Marco Polo

Hippy Child. Competitive Brute.

Marco Polo was born a-wanderin'. Popping out of the womb in Mexico, he traveled by wagon with hippy parents who made jewellery they sold in markets throughout Central America.

The clan eventually set down roots in southern Brasil and after years of ignoring surfing for skating, he was blown away when his older brother "Blue" came home with a trophy from winning a surfing contest.

The fire was lit. A local shaper saw the talent straight away and took Marco under his wing. A mere couple of years later he was one of the best surfers in Brasil and an absolute competitive beast.

"I love to compete, to pit myself against the best in the world and give it everything and try and beat them. But still my favourite thing is the travelling, going around the world and meeting people and seeing new things. Like Marco Polo, the explorer. But mostly like my parents. I think deep down, when I'm not competing, I am definitely a hippy too."

"Just surf and travel, if I wasn't a pro I think I could see myself captaining a boat, sailing or something, a job in the saltwater is where I will always be happy."
